We need better transit on the Mesa, and throughout the 2nd District – not just for locals and students here, but for the people who work and shop here, and for the residents of the entire City who want to visit our beautiful beaches and parks – without their cars!  We also need to improve our options for mobility – safer crosswalks, walkway and bike paths will make our neighborhoods safer and our neighbors healthier.

In reference to Cliff Drive:

With three elementary schools, City College, and the Mesa’s thriving Business District, Cliff Drive has all types of people using mixed modes of transportation competing for space. Cars, bicycles, and pedestrians of all ages are trying to get across Cliff Drive to their destination safely. Sadly, Cliff Drive is a danger zone with increasing accidents and fatalities. As President of Our Mesa Neighborhood, I’ve been working with Rob Dayton and Derrick Bailey from Public Works (and the community) to successfully advocate for Cliff Drive Crosswalks as well as a pedestrian/bikepath from Hendry’s to Rancheria. This way our children have safe routes to school, our bikers are safer, our neighbors are healthier, and our environment is cleaner (by getting vehicles miles driven down). As your Councilmember, I will ensure this plan from Public Works gets completed and extends throughout the City.
